Zuma is critical of both Mugabe's human rights violations and Thabo Mbeki's policy of "quiet diplomacy" towards Zimbabwe.
However, he is not much better than Mbeki on HIV-AIDS. Besides having had unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman, he recently warned of "a politicisation of HIV/AIDS by some people in politics" and claims "There is a commercialisation of the pandemic where people see possibilities of enjoying huge benefits out of it (the disease). It has something to do with drugs. I am just being diplomatic."
